Andrea Dieci si è laureato con il massimo dei voti, la Lode e la Menzione Speciale al Conservatorio “G. Verdi” di Milano, dove ha studiato nella classe di Paolo Cherici. È stato allievo di Oscar Ghiglia dapprima ai Corsi Estivi di perfezionamento dell’Accademia Musicale Chigiana di Siena, conseguendovi sempre il Diploma di Merito, e successivamente alla Musikakademie di Basilea, dove nel 1992 gli è stato conferito il “Solistendiplom”. Ha inoltre partecipato a masterclass tenute da Julian Bream.
Vincitore del 1° Premio ai concorsi internazionali di Gargnano, Lagonegro (dedicato alla musica per chitarra del XX secolo) e “De Bonis” di Cosenza, Andrea Dieci è stato definito “an impressive guitarist” dal Times Herald e “una vera star della chitarra classica” dal Corriere della Sera. Ha debuttato come solista all’età di tredici anni e, da allora, ha tenuto centinaia di concerti come solista, in varie formazioni cameristiche e con orchestra in Europa, negli Stati Uniti, in America centrale e del Sud, Asia e Africa, figurando nell’ambito di manifestazioni di rilevanza mondiale quali il Festival dei Due Mondi di Spoleto, il Festival Internazionale della Guitar Foundation of America (GFA) e il Festival Chitarristico Internazionale di Singapore. Si è esibito in sale prestigiose: Dai-Ichi Seimei Hall a Tokyo, DBS Auditorium a Singapore, Meng Hall a Los Angeles, Ataturk Centre e Cemal Resit Hall a Istanbul, ecc.
Il suo repertorio spazia da Bach agli autori contemporanei e include l’integrale delle opere chitarristiche di Heitor Villa-Lobos e Toru Takemitsu, nonché le più importanti composizioni cameristiche e per chitarra e orchestra. Ha presentato in prima esecuzione numerosi lavori di compositori contemporanei a lui dedicati. Tra i suoi recenti progetti, l’esecuzione integrale delle opere di Heitor Villa-Lobos nel 50° anniversario della morte del compositore (2009) in vari Paesi europei e negli Stati Uniti. Ha inoltre eseguito in concerto monografie dedicate a Manuel Maria Ponce e a Toru Takemitsu.
Ha effettuato registrazioni per varie emittenti radiofoniche e televisive (tra cui RAI, Radio Nacional Española, BBC, Radio Televisione Svizzera Italiana, Euroradio) e ha inciso 8 CD per le etichette MAP Golden, Bèrben e Nuova Era. Tra questi, una monografia sulla musica per chitarra di Manuel Maria Ponce, un doppio CD dedicato all’opera completa per chitarra sola di Toru Takemitsu (premiato con la “Chitarra d’Oro 2005” quale miglior CD chitarristico dell’anno al Convegno Internazionale di Chitarra di Alessandria) e un recente doppio CD, pubblicato dalla MAP Maestro nel 2009, dedicato all’opera completa per chitarra sola di Heitor Villa-Lobos.
Recentemente è stato professore ospite presso l’Istituto Musicale Pareggiato “C. Monteverdi” di Cremona. Attualmente è docente presso l’Accademia Chitarristica “G. Regondi” di Milano, della quale è co-fondatore, e presso il Conservatorio “A. Casella” dell’Aquila. Ha tenuto masterclass e seminari per rinomate istituzioni musicali, Università e Conservatori in Italia, Francia, Svizzera, Spagna, Inghilterra, Polonia, Bulgaria, Grecia, Brasile, Messico, USA, Singapore e Giappone.
